Pilot's Handling Notes for a Savoia Marchetti S.M.79M with Alfa Romeo 126/RC34 engines
**************************************************************************************
The three 750hp Alfa Romeo 126/RC34 (Bristol Pegasus) engines have automated mixture controls, and manually applied carb heat controls. Superchargers give rated power up to 3400 metres. Each engine can briefly deliver 780hp for take off, go around or war emergency below 3500 metres. This engine has constant speed airscrews.
AUTOMIXTURE - This engine has Automixture in real life. Turn automixture ON in the FS9 realism screen before flight.
This medium bomber is loaded by default with 4,633lbs of AVGAS and 2,200lbs of bombs (1000Kg = design bombload). The torpedo weighed only 930Kg, but allowing for the weight of the torpedo crutch payload hardly differed for a torpedo bombing mission. CAUTION - When carrying an external torpedo drag is significantly higher.
Design cruise altitude is 6000 metres for any mission.
CAUTION - Very weak brakes. Landing roll much longer than take off roll.
